Glazes...underglaze


 i had so much fun painting the colorful underglazes onto these pieces. 
things went especially smoothy and the colors are so rich. sometimes its just like that, i get into a groove where everything comes together! i'm sure my visit to Craggy Pinnacle to visit with Grandmother Blue Moon the night before had a lot to do with this ease.

  i started at 7am saturday morning and finished at midnight. this is a picture of the loaded kiln ready for firing... there are three layers of shelves and pieces, you see the top shelf. the one large owl that you see in the bottom right corner is standing on the bottom shelf, whoooo!

the colors of these underglazes when fired to 1900 degrees will be permanent and will become even a little richer.
