How i work: Finishes.
The texture and application of underglaze color create an ancient look to the piece. I use tools for the final shaping of the wet clay that have teeth like that of a saw blade. This gives me some higher and lower surfaces. After the first firing, i start applying color with a full wet brush. Underglaze goes down into the valleys of the texture. Then i come back with another color for the upper ridges of the surface and apply that color with a dry brush technique.
the colors are kind of amazing if i do say so. i work fast and just kind of surrender to the process allowing my heart to decide what to do and keeping my analyzing brain silent.
i never really know what will happen. each piece feels like a gift from the universe. i am grateful to be part of the process of their becoming : )

Living in Beauty
This is much more than a "ceramic cat on a stand". What you see here is the physical manifestation of my relationship with beauty. A lifelong love relationship with beauty. A long term, committed love relationship with the sacredness of beauty. I've lived my life honoring the joy in my heart that I feel when I create the most beautiful pieces of art that I can.
Its been my experience that there are many people who love Beauty and they are completely happy to make an exchange to have a piece of beauty standing in their home as a daily reminder of their own relationship with beauty, with the sacred and with creativity. I am grateful to play a small part.
Maybe a piece of beauty will appear in your life today or tomorrow or sometime soon. Maybe you will recognize that what has touched you is the recognition of Divine Beauty within you....you are looking into a mirror and seeing, feeling your own relationship with Beauty.... Beauty within you and Beauty in your world....I hope that you are always looking for Beauty in
your life....everywhere....looking, looking, looking ....your heart open
always to Beauty. i hope that you honor yourself and your relationship with beauty everyday!

inspiration....
i confess......
i do live in a beautiful place.
and yes, i am inspired and supported by the Beauty i see
whenever i walk out my door.
..............
i made this collage with a new toy
its a photo editing site. i used the free tools for
this collage but if you want there are even
more tools and fonts for a small fee.
i think it maybe took about 30 minutes
to make this one but i can entertain
myself for hours with these kinds of things.

Sweet Girl Cat Dreaming the Rainbow, Meow....
One of a kind, signed work of art.
7-3/4" tall, 5" wide at the base
Hand made from red clay and fired ceramic glazes with a matte finish called "under glaze". Even the black lines that you see are under glaze in a pencil form.
In the close up photos, you can see the way these ceramic glazes look like chalk or pastels. I work with colors the way a painter does...because i started out as a painter!!! about 20 years ago i discovered the magic of clay. But still love working with the infinite possibilities of colors!!!! so my artworks are a combination of those two very different mediums.

i love books.... one of my favorites....
...sometimes books awaken a recognition of memories not so deeply buried....
...i bought this book from a small bookstore in Ansley Mall in Atlanta around 1971 or thereabouts... The Little Professor Books? I read it over and over....rereading it now... It helped me remember a way of practicing art that is nature based, spiritual.... beauty is alive, unfinished, perfectly imperfect...

Drawing...
....The word for a creative process.....Paper, pencil, pen and attention...."drawing" is an interesting word....draw a picture, draw a cup of water from the spigot ...draw from the energy of the universe....allowing the energy to flow through...
a drawing on the birthday cake that is this day....wild flowers are emerging, it's spring....I'm going outside today and do some drawing.....

Artist bio
Once upon a time there was a little Blue Fire born into a magical family. Her mother was a tall and powerful woman before such a thing was known to be possible and her father was an artist, a painter and college professor.
Infused with her mother's courage, little Blue Fire followed in her father's footsteps literally with a little sketch book in hand, drawing and coloring to her heart's content. Art and creativity was a magical process where dreams became things.
She has traveled with Mother Earth 60 revolutions around the sun, dreaming and creating every day. She has taken creative journeys into silk screen printing, commercial product photography, graphic design....and of course countless Spirit journeys into her own energy, into the dream world within. All of her experiences have guided and assisted her in a love affair with clay, the true love of this lifetime and surely many other lifetimes as well.
Blue Fire has been joyfully dreaming, forming, finishing and sending her clay creations out to live in the homes of people in the far four corners of this beautiful world for over 20 years now. Such a parade of beauty she has witnessed and they just keep coming.
I am grateful.
