This owl has blue terra sigilatta on her face and green on her chest. Terra sigilatta is an ancient way of finishing and sealing ceramic art work. A very fine liquid clay with pigments added is brushed onto the unfired but very dry clay. Then it is burnished to create a soft, subtle sheen.
